State Game 2013

Aledo made it to the state championship! This year we decided to be more organized and leave at 9 AM. But, as the late great Pâtés go, we were out the door by 9:30. This was actually a good time. However, we had torrential downpours this morning, the highway was shut down. So we had to go an alternate route. In addition, I was making Brant and Slade go to the restroom before we were leaving the house and Brant peed all over his jeans. This called for an impromptu changing of pants. The problem with this was that all of his jeans were dirty except for the small pair.  We had to stop by my brother's house and give him a ticket.

During the warm up they flashed pictures on the jumbo tron of fans during the game that had been submitted through Twitter. This little baby kept on coming on and it was a cute little picture that was kind of funny. I had to take a picture of it so we could always remember it.

We finally made it to the game, and had great seats on the 20 yard line. The only problem with the game was that it was kind of warm inside the stadium. We had to take Slade and Brant's undershirts off. During the first quarter I got three text and friends saying they saw me on TV!! Thank goodness I was not picking my nose or spanking the boys.

The game was intense, and at the endof the  half it was 17-3. We finally turned it on during the third and fourth quarter and ended up winning 38 to 10. Billy was so excited!!! We got to go on the field and congratulate him after the game.  The boys loved being on the Cowboy field.  It was a great season!!!

Santa 2013

I took the boys to see Santa. It was a Wednesday afternoon so I figured there would not be much of a line. When we got to the mall we noticed that Santa took a break at 5:15. It was 450. The worker gave us a golden ticket and then shut the line right behind us. People were mad, and they kept on saying can't you let us in. It made me feel really awkward. But, as we were waiting in line at Brant decided that he had to pee and he washolding his  weenie jumping around. I told him there was no way we are leaving this line. There were two babies ahead of us, and the photographer probably spent 10 minutes apiece trying to get each one the perfect shot. I appreciated that, but with Brant holding his weenie and saying he is about to go it made me a little nervous. Finally we made it to Santa and took the picture! I have named this year's Santa picture our redneck Santa pic. The boys look so scraggly and Brant is holding his weenie. After the picture we decided to ride the train that goes around the mall. I think that was their favorite part. When we were getting in bed that night Brant told me that he just had the best day.

The road to STATE!

Tonight we beat the Ennis Tigers! 29-6. It was a rocky start for the first half, but Aledo came out fighting and we battled back. Brant slept the 2nd half in my lap and I was afraid to move to save my life. Slade brought along a friend and they played jackpot football during the half and then once again on the field when it was over. I think their favorite part is getting on the field after the game. Billy was so excited. State is next week at Cowboy stadium! Can't wait!

Ice Storm 2013

We have had the craziest ice storm ever this past week. It blew in Thursday night and covered the ground with 3-6 inches of ice!! The boys loved playing in the ice. They were a little confused at first and wanted to make snow balls and a snow man. But they had a ball just sliding and running. One day we went down the street to the big hill and went sledding. We had plastic lids at first, but our neighbor brought out the boogey boards. It was much easier, Billy and Slade went down the hill and wiped out. Slade went rolling and Billy toppled on top of him. We have missed 4 days of school because the busses can go on these back roads. We have had the best time just sleeping in and playing. Slade and Brant are the BEST!!!

Park day!

We had a nice warm Wednesday. The temperature was close to 80°, and I took Brant to Bearcat Park. He loves the park. He loves the slide the swings, the balance beam, and the monkey bars. We stayed for about an hour and we played on everything. I took a few action shots of him going down the slide, and then he wanted to take a picture of me going down the pole.  When we were going to the park, he asked if we could get Slade out of school so he could go with us. He was not too happy I told him no. I promised him we would bring Slade the next day.

6 year olds are this big!!

Tonight, as we were going to sleep, I told Brant to not get any bigger. That I just wanted him as my baby forever!! He was so cute, he said, "welll on my birthday I will get older and bigger." He just did not have a clue what I meant. Then he said, "six year olds, are this big, and when I turn six like bubba, I will be just as big." He raised his arm up high and showed me how big he was going to be. He just loves his big bubba. They are best friends and we feel so blessed to have such precious babies. If they would just stay little.

Turkey Day!

We went to Billy's uncles house for thanksgiving lunch. His uncle is very handy and has all of this fun stuff at his house. He had a really cool baseball throwing game, and then a room with drums and guitars.  The boys were in heaven. They even had a ball running in the front yard.  Slade would tell Brant, put your arms like this and put your feet like this, and RUN!  After we ate with his family, we headed over to my parents to have Thanksgiving dinner. Slade even loved the dressing.

Turkey Trot 2013

This year I decided to have the boys run the turkey trot with me. I signed them up for the 1 mile. However, they were troopers and did the 5k also. Well, my parents pushed Brant, but Slade walked/ran the whole way. It was such a fun way to start Thanksgiving. Brant loved the turkey mascot and would wave at him and tell, "Hey Turkey" every time he saw him. I think the boys favorite part was getting the free food at the end.
